Stakeholders as sources of resources

As already mentioned, seemingly beneficial stakeholder interactions can turn out to bear risks. This danger exists if one does not know the stakeholder well, or has only had short or sporadic contact. This means that no real relationship could be established to enhance mutual trust and clarify possible misunderstandings; the latter arising perhaps due to a lack of information or to a difference in values.

In our study of corporations, we observed the following relationship patterns with various outcomes:
